January edition of Business Briefing

The New Year edition of Capita Registrars' Business Briefing focuses on the Financial Reporting Council's ("FRC") final report on the Combined Code, Sir David Walker's final recommendations on corporate governance in UK banks and other financial industry entities, the Financial Service Authority's proposed changes to the Listing Regime and the Accounting Standards Board's ("ASBs") latest comments on narrative reporting in UK annual reports.

We also discuss the Companies Act 2006, covering Department for Business Innovation and Skills ("BIS") consultation on the statement of capital and the deadline for the appointment of proxies.

Our 'And Finally' section takes a look at the FRC's warning to audit firms, the reported falling number of FTSE 100 Non Executive Directors ("NEDs") , a study revealing improving NED experience levels and the London Stock Exchange's fight to protect its future.
